A puzzle table or a puzzle hour comes up on a lot of library and senior-center calendars, and someone has to find the puzzles, print them and work out what to do for an hour. This page does that part. Every pack below is free, prints straight from the PDF, and needs no sign-up on your end or your visitors' end.
It works for a public library drop-in table, a school or college library club, or a weekly activity slot at a senior center. Pick what fits your group, print a stack, and you are set for the week.

A 60-minute puzzle hour
This runs well as a drop-in hour for a mixed group of ages and skill levels. It does not need a facilitator with any Sudoku background beyond the three rules.
- 0 to 5 minutes, set-up. Tables out, pencils on the table, printed sheets sorted into stacks by level.
- 5 to 10 minutes, rules intro. One sentence covers it: every row, every column and every 3x3 box holds the digits 1 to 9, each exactly once. If anyone wants more detail, our Sudoku rules page has diagrams.
- 10 to 20 minutes, warm-up. Everyone starts the same easy puzzle so latecomers do not feel behind.
- 20 to 45 minutes, main solving time. People move at their own pace on a sheet matched to their level. See the table below for which pack fits which solver.
- 45 to 55 minutes, a pairs puzzle. Two people share one sheet and talk through it out loud. It slows the pace down and works well for people who have been solving alone all session.
- 55 to 60 minutes, share and tidy up. Ask who finished, who got stuck, put the spare copies away for next time.

For a group of 10 to 15 people, print about 18 copies of the warm-up sheet (the spares cover latecomers or a torn page) and 6 to 8 copies of a medium sheet for the pairs round, since that one is shared between two people.
Running it every week
The monthly pack is the easy way to keep a weekly club going without picking new puzzles yourself. The page address never changes, but the 30 puzzles behind it are new every month, so regulars are not solving the same grid twice.
Keep one answer key at the front desk instead of printing one for every visitor. That way people can check a tricky corner without seeing the whole solution.
A simple tally sheet helps regulars track their own progress: names down one side, a checkbox column for each week's session. It costs nothing to make, a lined sheet on a clipboard works fine, and people like seeing their own row fill in over a month.
Accessibility notes
- Print from the large print packs for anyone who finds a standard puzzle too small.
- Keep a magnifier on the table. Even large print can be hard to read under weak lighting.
- Chunky pencils with a soft grip are easier on hands with arthritis than a thin golf pencil.
- Leave room between seats for a wheelchair or a walker, and set the table where the light falls evenly on the page without glare.

Poster for the front desk
A one-page poster with blank lines for day, time and room, so you can fill it in by hand and pin it up wherever people see the noticeboard. It carries a small line crediting the puzzles to this site, nothing more.
Licence, in plain words
Every PDF on this site, including the ones on this page, carries the same free licence. You can print any number of copies, photocopy a page instead of downloading again, and hand copies out at a library programme, a school session or a senior center activity. You can also put the PDF on a staff intranet, a library resource page or a newsletter.
What we ask in return: leave the small footer line on each printed page, and if you list these packs on a public website, link to the page you took them from rather than re-hosting the file, since the monthly pack changes every month and a saved copy goes stale. Selling the PDFs, or the puzzles inside them, is the one thing not allowed.
